Elen Nas

Elen Nas - Elen Nas is a Brazilian researcher in AI and Ethics, a descendant of enslaved Africans and the indigenous ethnic group Puri, established in the Southeastern region of Brazil. She is a Social Scientist with a Master's in Design and a Ph.D. in Bioethics, Applied Ethics, and Public Health.

Author of dozens of publications on AI and Ethics, her Ph.D. focused on bioethics considerations related to AI and robotics. At the same time, her Master's thesis examined the role of creative expression in technological developments and scientific innovations. She published the books "Arte Eletrônica: elo perdido" (2020) and "Bioethics of non-presence: body, philosophy, and machines" (2021).

In her postdoctoral research, she examined the questions of bias in human-algorithmic interaction and proposals for the regulation of AI, with the perspectives of Responsible AI.
